Partnerships at Work in the Community

The Trent Valley Literacy Association's (TVLA) mission is to help adults in Peterborough city and county to acquire the literacy, numeracy and computer skills needed to live and work successfully in the community. This has led to many productive partnerships with other community agencies.

Ontario Works

TVLA has also developed partnerships with Ontario Works to deliver academic upgrading and pre-employment skills to people on social assistance. These programs supplement the classes provided through the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.

Resources Available
TVLA acts as a resource for training and learning materials for other tutoring programs such as peer tutoring in the adult education centre and the mainstream high schools and other programs which request help from time to time.
Workshops Available
TVLA offers consultation and workshops in clear writing to help make professional or business communication more accessible to people who have low reading skills. Workshops have been delivered at the District Health Council, the Access Centre and the Five Counties Children's Centre
